We no longer use an online application for tentative

membership approval.  

 

Please submit all requirements by mail:  A resume, sample surveys, and membership fees  must be included.

 

Please discuss these items with ACMS before submitting.

Membership Levels, Qualifications, 

and How to Qualify

 

Membership Levels

 

     ACMS has two levels of membership,  Certified Surveyors,  and Associate Members.

 

     Certified  Surveyors  are full time professionals with over five years of experience in the trade. Certified Surveyors possess the knowledge and experience necessary to do a complete and accurate survey.

 

     Associate  Members include professionals in the surveyor or other related marine trades who are practicing but have not yet completed all of the requirements for certification.

 

Requirements for CMS

 

     Five years of Marine Surveyor service and successful completion of the comprehensive requirements qualifies for certification.  The requirements include submission of surveys the applicant has completed during the previous five years which are reviewed to determine work skills and the degree of advances made to his skills over the preceding five years. Adequate references from professionals in the Marine Trades. A resume. Once the preliminary requirements have been submitted and approved the applicant may be tested.

 

Requirements for Associate  Membership

 

     Adequate references from professionals in the Marine Trades and a resume.
