Be on the look out while inspecting 2000 to 2004 Yamaha F225 outboard engines.

Complaints have surfaced regarding problems stemming from corrosion of internal components of the dry exhaust system. The failure is difficult,  if not impossible to notice during a routine check.

Excessive dark exhaust smoke is a definite tip-off.
